Drilling Services: PQ Soil Coring

Unlike other drilling applications, the goal of soil coring is not to dig a hole, but rather to gather a core sample, a long cylinder of soil that can be used to determine the composition of earth in a particular area. These samples are generally extracted using a series of tubes connected to barrel and then a special cutting bit at the end. In wireline coring, the barrel with the sample is brought to the surface with a wire while the rest of the tubes stay in the hole ensuring less contamination and making the whole operation more efficient.

Aardvark’s uses a standard large diameter (PQ) wireline retrievable soil coring system. This setup is capable of gathering high quality continuous overburden and rock samples for hydrogeolists, geological mapping and large diameter environmental applications.
